**Core Objective:** To provide an excellent dining experience for guests by expertly managing service from greeting to farewell, ensuring satisfaction, and acting as the primary link between the kitchen and the customer.
**Key Responsibilities & Duties**
A waiter's job is a dynamic blend of customer service, sales, and logistics. The role typically breaks down into stages:
**1. Pre-Service Preparation:**
- Setting and sanitizing tables.
- Learning daily specials, menu changes, and ingredient details.
- Preparing service stations with utensils, napkins, condiments, and beverages.
- Attending pre-shift briefings with the kitchen and management.
**2. Guest Interaction & Service:**
- **Greeting & Seating:** Welcoming guests warmly, often escorting them to their table.
- **Presenting Menus & Specials:** Introducing yourself, explaining chef's specials, and answering initial questions.
- **Taking Orders:** Accurately recording food and drink orders, noting modifications (allergies, preferences), and suggesting items to enhance the meal (upselling).
- **Placing Orders:** Relaying orders correctly to the kitchen (via POS system or verbally) and coordinating with bartenders for drinks.
- **Running Food & Drinks:** Delivering orders efficiently, ensuring each guest receives the correct item.
- **Checking In:** Monitoring the table throughout the meal for satisfaction, refilling drinks, and addressing any issues promptly.
- **Processing Payments:** Presenting the check, handling cash, credit card transactions, or digital payments accurately.
- **Farewell:** Thanking guests sincerely and inviting them to return.
**3. Post-Service & Teamwork:**
- Clearing, cleaning, and resetting tables for the next guests.
- Assisting side work like refilling condiments, rolling silverware, or cleaning sections.
- Communicating effectively with hosts, bussers, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
- Handling customer complaints with grace and alerting a manager when necessary.
Job Types: 100%, Part-time
Pay: CHF60’000.00 - CHF75’000.00 per year
